MacEwan University- Edmonton’s Second University
If you moved to Edmonton within the last 3 years, you may not know that MacEwan University was formerly known as Grant Macewan College. In fact, prior to 2009 this postsecondary institution was the sixth largest College in the province. Its historical roots date back to 1971, when it opened in what is now known as Strathcona High School. Over the years, MacEwan developed quality education and established itself as one of Alberta’s leading transfer institutions.
Macewan University currently offers 60 different programs such as: undergraduate degrees, applied degrees, diplomas, and certificates. In addition to their status change, MacEwan was also accepted as a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. They also rebranded by changing their name, school colours, and logo! (Did you know the new logo was architecturally inspired by MacEwan’s signature clock tower in the City Centre Campus?
